Sherman-Dixie News

Sherman-Dixie first in the industry to have all manufacturing facilities approved under the national quality assurance programs

Above all, Sherman-Dixie is committed to manufacturing the highest quality precast concrete products in the industry.  In 2003, Sherman-Dixie’s “rock solid commitment to quality” was recognized, when Sherman-Dixie became the first precast concrete manufacturer to have all its facilities approved under the ACPA (American Concrete Pipe Association) Quality Cast (or Q-Cast) Certification Program.

ACPA Q-Cast certified pipe producers must meet the stringent guidelines of ASTM, AASHTO, and the ACPA.  During yearly inspections, Q-Cast certifiers examine each aspect of  the manufacturing process and the finished product.

The 124-point audit includes:

  • Materials inspection
  • Finished product inspection
  • Performance testing
  • Production verification and testing
  • Handling and storage inspection
  • Proper quality control documentation

As a certified Q-Cast producer, Sherman-Dixie must receive an overall passing score at each inspection, which contains numerous “must pass” elements such as pipe strength, reinforcement, and leakage.  Furthermore, as a Q-Cast producer, Sherman-Dixie is required to maintain an ongoing quality assurance program, continued self inspection and documentation, and an overall commitment to quality.

By having all its facilities certified under Q-Cast guidelines, Sherman-Dixie can guarantee that its products and draining systems are fabricated according to the highest standard of quality and consistency in the industry.   The Q-Cast certification ensures that Sherman-Dixie pipe meets specification and service requirements, performing at or above expectations for its entire service life.

Simply, the Q-Cast certification program means peace of mind.

We encourage all specifiers to ask for the best in their project specialties by requiring all precast concrete pipe and products be manufactured in a nationally certified facility.
