Sherman-Dixie unveils state of the art pipe plant in Lexington, Kentucky
For over the fifty years, Sherman-Dixie has been committed to producing the highest quality concrete products in the market. It is this longstanding commitment to excellence and consistency that has separated Sherman-Dixie from its competitors.
In 2005, Sherman-Dixie invested millions of dollars in the expansion and rebuilding of the Lexington, Kentucky pipe facility. By rebuilding the entire facility from the ground up with the most state of the art equipment available, Sherman-Dixie is continuing its long tradition of product excellence.
By centralizing and monitoring all steps in the manufacturing process at a single facility, Sherman-Dixie’s Lexington Pipe plant is producing some of the highest quality concrete pipe on the market. From the mixing and batching to building specialty cages on site, Sherman-Dixie can ensure the highest quality techniques and equipment is being used at every step of the production.
Recognizing the importance of proper mixing and batching, Sherman-Dixie made the decision to install state of the art European technology mixing and batching equipment feeding directly into the casts. This decision eliminates the chance of segregation, contamination, or over hydration, which can potentially weaken the concrete. Sherman-Dixie knows that good ingredients mixed well makes good concrete, and we are committed to providing the best products in the market.
Furthermore, in an effort to increase the quality of the casting cages, Sherman-Dixie has invested in state-of-the-art European cage wielding technology. Drawing wire cages directly from hot rolled green rod enables Sherman-Dixie’s Lexington facility to ensure cage quality and consistency, while reducing the lag times on specialty pipe.
Product features at our Lexington facility include: 24” - 60" diameter straight wall pipe with integral gaskets in the pipe bell.
