Why Concrete?
Comprised of earth's most common materials, concrete is arguably the most resource efficient building material in the world. Concrete's three primary components (water, crushed stone or sand and cement) are readily available and easily extractable. Cement is comprised of approximately 75% limestone - the most plentiful mineral on earth.
Furthermore, the extraction of these raw materials has a significantly lowers environmental impact than that of competing materials. Today, quarries that provide the raw materials for concrete production are frequently reclaimed for recreational, residential or commercial development.
Once in place, concrete is a versatile, durable construction material that actually continues to gain strength over time. By reducing leakage die to deterioration, breaking or buckling, reinforced concrete pipe and precast products can successfully contain and transport potential pollutants away from our waterways and drinking supplies. Additionally, by reducing the need for maintenance and replacement, concrete products further minimize waste and environmental disruption.
